This review is for the Series -- consistently enjoyable reads: Absolutely inspiring -- every book in the series! -- well-developed characters, and wonderful story lines -- all stand-alone novels (though most are more meaningful if read in order) -- and very different kind of read. Earlier, I had read 3 of these books, out of sequence, and loved each one so much that I decided to start with the first and read them in order. While definitely stand-alone reads, there is some cross-over in some of the stories that made the reads much richer. I loved reading them straight through from 1-12. I will read #13 next and any that Ms MacLean adds to the series. This is a very special series, and the stories touched my heart.Great character development, inspiring and intriguing story line, and great editing. A pleasure to read any book by this author.
I rated 11 of the 12 I read with 5-stars, and one a 4-star.
Update: I grab up each new addition to this series! Never disappointed!

The Color of Joy The Color of Heaven Series Book 8 edition by Julianne MacLean Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Love this book. I would advise you to read “ The color of Heaven” first.
Such a great series. Once I started reading this book, I could;t put it down until I was finished. Each chapter keeps you in suspense and you have to keep reading to see what happens next. I love the way each character is in different story lines, but somehow they are all connected. I hope she keeps this series going.
I loved the first 7, but this 8th one was different and didn't keep my interest. My wife read them all too and read The Color of Joy before me. She wasn't very impressed either. When I got about 1/2 through and didn't want to continue, she gave me a report on the balance in about 1 minute. Sorry Julianne, we really enjoyed your other books.
This is a delightful story of a tangled family with real problems, relationship stresses, and the unwanted clash with another equally troubled family. It has tension and drama aplenty but all is happily resolved in the end. The characters are well drawn and 'real', the situations could happen and the challenge of forgiveness is accomplished with much struggle! Like real life!
This entire series jumps from one amazing interlude with "Fate" after another. Each book representative on its own, yet neatly intertwined with the characters and situations of the next. So far, the Color of Joy is the only one that brought me to tears ~ the defenses we put up around ourselves either due to upbringing, or past experiences and how we can, with maturity, love and forgiveness slowly bring those walls down and learn to forgive ourselves for our past Self. After recently losing my father and dealing with a canyon full of grief and despair, I feel and hear him with me almost constantly. Heaven and God are real and through faith and slowing our minds down enough to pay attention, we can see our loved ones hand in our lives.
I am excited to begin reading Sylvie's story The Color of Time. Thanks Julianne MacLean!
This book was awesome. It will keep you spellbound. You won't be able to put it down. It tells how real life problems aren't always solved like you would imagine. Things aren't always black and white. Really enjoyed the ending. It shows there are still good people who do the right thing no matter what the situation. I highly recommend you read this whole series .
I was very delighted with the character development in this book and extremely surprised at the different turns the author took us through - like a maze in the human mind and emotions!! It read so quickly and had so many different simi-plots that at first it really had me confused . But, I quickly realized where the author was leading and laid back for an excellent read in time and things to come that was totally surprising to me. It was well worth the time and most enjoyable! I like the way the author takes such a different approach to the everyday events in peoples' lives that I bought all of her books in this series. They are relaxing and easy reading when you want to take a break from the heavier and more involved books of historical events.
